Safeguarding at Booker Park School

Marianne Murphy (Head of School) is the Designated Safeguarding Lead. She is supported on the Safeguarding team by Keryn Michhiana (Safeguarding Officer & Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead), Tiani Wells (Safeguarding Officer & Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead), Bradley Taylor (Principal & Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead), and Rachael Cooper (Assistant Head Teacher & Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead), all of whom are trained as Additional Safeguarding Leads.

We have a designated Safeguarding Governor, Dave, who visits the school on a regular basis to meet with members of the Safeguarding Team and monitor their work.

At Booker Park School we have a duty of care to ensure that all users of the school are kept safe from harm. We are committed to provide a secure and supportive environment in which children can develop and grow into mature and responsible people. Safeguarding children is an essential part of our holistic approach to ensure that children are protected from abuse and neglect and that every child reaches their full potential.

The best interests of the children will always be our priority. As such, there are times we will need to record, monitor and share information with other agencies. We will share concerns about our pupils with the child’s parents/carers unless we have reason to believe that such a move would not be in the child’s best interest.

What to do if you’re concerned about a child

  • Speak to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) or one of the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads (DDSL) about your concerns.

  • In the event of an emergency, find a relevant trained member of staff as per the posters around the school.

  • If DSLs are unavailable and you feel that your concern must be reported immediately, contact Buckinghamshire Council’s Safeguarding Team: 01296 383962

  • If you believe there is an immediate risk of significant harm or if anyone is in immediate danger, always call the police on 999.

What to do if you’re concerned about a staff member (including volunteers) in school

  • Report any concerns you have about a member of staff directly to the Head of School or the Principal.

  • This includes self-reporting if you are worried about something that happened.

  • If your concerns are about the Head of school or the principle specifically, please refer this to the Chair of Governors and the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO).

How do I contact the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO)?

  • If you have a concern about a member of staff working with children (in either a paid or voluntary capacity) please contact:

Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) for Buckinghamshire Council: 01296 382070 or LADO@buckinghamshire.gov.uk
